Medical Summary & Chronology Specialist

Morris James LLP seeks an experienced Medical Summary and Chronology Specialist to join its busy Personal Injury plaintiffs’ practice. Accommodations can be made to work at one of our New Castle or Kent County Personal Injury offices. Applicants must have the ability to read medical records and understand basic medical terminology. Applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience understanding and summarizing medical records in chronological order & must be highly organized, detail-oriented self-starters who can work under pressure & prioritize/handle a high volume of cases. This position requires an applicant to have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products and proficient word processing skills is essential.

The scheduled hours for this full-time position are 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with some occasional overtime. This is a non-exempt position. Salary commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Review, organize, analyze, and summarize medical records and producing an accurate summary of the individual’s medical chronology;
  • Ensuring the creation of summaries that are precise and are backed by the medical literature;
  • Verify and review all forms and medical documents about a case for errors, missing information, legibility; and request follow-up information as required;
  • Verify consistency between the source documents and any narrative summaries
  • Respond to clients, adjusters, and other lawyers/paralegals by email or telephone
  • Properly file documents into electronic database
  • Manage all client files with discretion and confidentiality
  • Assist with other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience reviewing/summarizing medical records in an insurance, medical, or law firm environment  
  • Must possess strong word processing skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Familiarity with iManage or similar document management system is helpful
  • Familiarity with Neos or Needles is a plus
  • Flexibility to work overtime on an as-needed basis to meet deadlines
