DSBA Recognizes Aarish Sheikh as Part of a New Generation of South Asian Legal Leaders in Delaware

Morris James congratulates Corporate Counsel Aarish Sheikh on being featured in the July 2025 cover story of The Journal of the Delaware State Bar Association, which commemorates four decades of South Asian attorneys practicing in Delaware.

Aarish was included among an elite group of trailblazing attorneys who have paved the way for lawyers of South Asian descent to practice in the First State.

The article traces the journey from the 1923 Supreme Court decision United States v. Bhagat Singh Thind, which denied South Asians the right to naturalized citizenship, to the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which paved the way for South Asian immigrants to enter the legal profession. Delaware's first South Asian attorney was admitted in 1985. Today, nearly 70 South Asian are admitted to the Delaware Bar, with presence across all three counties of the First State. 

Aarish was recognized among a distinguished group of attorneys admitted in the past decade who are “already making their presence felt.” His inclusion reflects not only his contributions to Delaware’s legal community but also his work on behalf of corporate clients navigating complex transactions and governance matters.
