Morris James announces the addition of Melissa Lagoumis as an Associate in the Corporate & Commercial Litigation practice. Melissa will counsel Delaware corporations, LLCs, partnerships, and other business entities in governance and litigation issues

Before joining Morris James, Melissa represented clients in all stages of proceedings, from case inception through trial and appeal, in both the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Supreme Court, and courts nationwide while working at a Delaware law firm.  Most recently, Melissa worked in a litigation and consulting practice representing transportation companies in expenditure recovery matters and commercial disputes.

During law school at Washington and Lee University, Melissa served as judicial extern to Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights III of the Delaware Court of Chancery and interned for the Honorable T.S. Ellis III of the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She also interned in the Office of the Chief Staff Attorney for the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Melissa brings a substantial record of community engagement. She is currently a Member and Secretary of the Board of Trustees for Northern Children’s Services and has served as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Office of the Child Advocate. She has represented victims of abuse through Delaware Volunteer Legal Services and mentored individuals with developmental disabilities through Best Buddies Delaware.
