Morris James Investigating Olympus Scope Infection Claims
04.03.26
Morris James LLP is now accepting cases on behalf of patients who developed serious infections after an endoscopy, gastroscopy, enteroscopy, or bronchoscopy performed with an Olympus endoscope.
Our mass torts attorneys are investigating claims that Olympus sold instruments with a design that prevented adequate sterilization, and provided hospitals with cleaning instructions that were not sufficient to make the scopes safe for reuse. Contaminated Olympus scopes have been linked to sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, and antibiotic-resistant superbugs — conditions that can lead to organ failure and death.
Do You Have an Olympus Scope Infection Claim?
You may be eligible if you had an Olympus scope procedure since 2015 and within 30 days were diagnosed with a serious infection — or received a hospital notice of potential exposure. Qualifying conditions include sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, CRE, MRSA, and other serious bacterial infections that resulted in hospitalization, ICU care, organ failure, or death. Wrongful death claims are also under investigation. Pre-existing conditions do not automatically disqualify you.

“These patients trusted that the equipment used in their care was safe. Olympus had years of warnings, paid criminal fines, and still failed to protect the people relying on its devices. We intend to hold them accountable.” — Keith Donovan, Managing Partner, Morris James LLP
