Joe Leonard will serve as a presenter for an upcoming Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program focused on the future legal and ethical implications of artificial intelligence. Hosted by the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA), the program, Future Developments of Law Involving AI, will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 1:00–4:15 PM at Wilmington University’s Brandywine Campus.

The forward-looking CLE will explore how emerging AI technologies may reshape substantive areas of law and professional responsibility through a series of hypothetical appellate decisions issued by the fictional “3rd Celestial Circuit” in 2031. Through these thought-provoking scenarios, the program will examine challenges ranging from bankruptcy complications involving inaccessible digital assets to the growing threat of deepfakes in criminal proceedings. The discussion will also address evolving legal concerns related to attorney discipline in structuring an AI-assisted legal practice as well as the admissibility of digital and neuro-based evidence, emphasizing the continued necessity of human judgment in professional services despite increasing automation.

Joe’s participation highlights his extensive experience advising clients on complex eDiscovery, data governance, and technology-driven litigation matters, as well as his ongoing work analyzing the legal and practical risks associated with generative AI in professional practice. Joe's knowledgeable perspective reflects Morris James’ continued focus on cutting-edge technologies as we counsel clients and fellow legal practitioners navigating the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and legal ethics.

Attendees will gain insight into how courts may balance innovation with accountability and leave better prepared to navigate the legal and ethical complexities of an AI-driven future.
