Office of the Child Advocate

The Office of the Child Advocate is a  state agency charged with safeguarding the welfare of Delaware’s children.  More than 15 Morris James attorneys volunteer their time by providing legal representation for dependent, neglected, and abused children in civil Family Court proceedings and engaging in legislative advocacy. Partners Tom Hanson and Susan Ament were awarded the “2014 Service To Children Award” from the Office of the Child Advocate for reaching a milestone of 10 years supporting the children of Delaware as attorney guardian ad litem.  More than ten of our attorneys have over 5 years of service to the OCA.

Awards

Delaware State Bar Association honored Judge Charles H. Toliver, IV with its 2014 Multicultural Judges & Lawyers Section Leadership Award.  He is a former two-term Judge of the Delaware Superior Court who practices Alternative Dispute Resolution at Morris James LLP. 

Managing Partner, Dave Williams, accepts the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Award of Excellence at the Marvin S. Gilman “Superstars in Business” Awards Ceremony at the Hotel DuPont.

Delaware State Bar Association recognized Thomas E. Hanson, Jr., with its Multicultural Judges & Lawyers Section Leadership Award for contributions to the legal and greater Delaware community.  The Community Service Award was given to partner Thomas E. Hanson, Jr., from the Wilmington Awards Program for accomplishments in the legal profession and efforts to promote diversity in the Delaware Bar.

Richard K. Herrmann, a partner in the Firm's Intellectual Property Litigation practice, received the Daniel L. Herrmann Professional Conduct Award, an award given by the Delaware State Bar Association for distinguished service as a Delaware lawyer.
